38th Modern Rural Mini Olympics – Jarkhar Games concluded with great enthusiasm and fervor

Ludhiana, February 16, 2026: The 38th Modern Rural Mini Olympics Jarkhar Games, sponsored by JST Truck Permit America, Avon Cycle, and Coca-Cola, came to a spectacular close, setting new milestones in the event's history.
In the Open Kabaddi category, 16 teams competed for the Naib Singh Grewal Memorial Kabaddi Cup. The Ghalughara Cup team emerged as champions, while Chakar Moga finished as runners-up.
In the Senior Hockey category, Lovely Professional University Jalandhar defeated Jarkhar Academy 3-1 to win the Mahinder Pratap Grewal Gold Cup Hockey Trophy.
In the Girls' Hockey category, Punjabi University Patiala beat Lovely Professional University Jalandhar 4-2 to claim the Mohinder Pratap Grewal Trophy.
In the Sub-Junior Hockey Jagtar Memorial Hockey Cup, Jarkhar Academy defeated Amargarh 2-1 to win the title.
In the Football Amarjit Singh Grewal Cup Boys' category Bhaini Arora defeated Bhutta 2-1. In Girls' category Gujarwal defeated Kotla 3-2.
Both teams were declared champions in their respective categories.
In the Baba Surjan Singh Sarinh Tug-of-War Cup, Ropar secured first place, and Bathinda second.
In the 50+ Kabaddi Dharm Singh Cup, Raikot took first place, and Seehadod second.
At the grand closing ceremony, seven distinguished personalities were specially honored Padma Onkar Singh Pahwa (owner of Avon Cycle) and Padma Shri Hockey Coach Baldev Singh received the Bhagat Puran Singh Award. Prabhdeep Singh Nathowal, Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations Department, was awarded the Pride of Punjab Award. Simranjit Kaur Gill, Pro Vice Chancellor, CT University Ludhiana, received the Pride of Punjab's Daughters Award. Journalist Davinderpal Sharma, Chandigarh, was given the Pride of Punjabi Journalism Award. Emerging Cyclist Harshvir Singh Sekho received the Olympian Surjit Singh Randhawa Award. Veteran Hockey Player Karamjit Singh Grewal (USA) was honored with the Olympian Prithipal Singh Award.
The achievements of the honorees were highlighted, and awards, commemorative mementos, and trophies were presented by chief guests Sant Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal and MLA Jiwan Singh Sangowal.
Other chief guests included Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, JST Truck Permit America owner Jang Sher Singh, and Avon Cycle owner Onkar Singh Pahwa.
Sant Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal announced a grant of ₹11 lakh to the Jarkhar Trust, while Cabinet Minister Khuddian pledged ₹5 lakh. Jang Sher Singh (America) contributed ₹2.5 lakh, and former Mayor of Hounslo UK, Pritam Singh Grewal, provided ₹2 lakh support on behalf of the Mahinder Pratap Grewal Trust.
Renowned folk singers Satwinder Bitti, Jaswant Sandila, Neetu Virk, and Gurjaan enthralled the crowd with their performances. Satwinder Bitti, in particular, got the entire stadium swaying with her selected songs.
Chairman Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu, Chief Organizer Jagroop Singh Jarkhar, and President Advocate Harkamal Singh expressed gratitude to the gold sponsor JST Truck Permit Fresno, silver sponsors Coca-Cola, Avon Cycle, Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, Dabur Company, Vishal Cycle, and all guests for their significant support.
Dabur Company distributed special gifts to players and guests, while Coca-Cola provided special juices to the public. Avon Cycle gifted 50 cycles to winning athletes, and Vishal Cycle presented 20 cycles to hockey winners.
