Ferozepur, April 6, 2014: The ever vigilant Border Security Force personnel have achieved a huge success and have recovered 36 KG contraband, suspected to be heroin along with a mobile phone with Pakistani sim after an exchange of firearms from Border Out Post (BOP) Lakha Singh Wala, Mamdot during wee hours.
Ajay Tomar, IG, BSF, Punjab frontier said that the BSF personnel deputed at BOP Lakha Singh Wala, Mamdot, forward gate number 206 (pillar number 206), saw some suspicious movement along the international fence. The Pakistani smugglers had reached close to the fence and were throwing the consignment over the fence.
On being challenged the Pakistani smugglers fired at the BSF personnel. The BSF personnel also retaliated and fired at them. The smugglers though managed to flee taking advantage of darkness. During their search the BSF crew found 36 packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin along with a Pakistani mobile.
Ajay Tomar, IG, said that that BSF troops were on high alerts after receiving inputs regarding threat of receiving a huge consignment of contraband from across the border. Keeping in view of the upcoming elections, the BSF sleuths were on high alert.
Accepting the fact that there might be some involvement of insiders, Ajay Tomar said that these parricide elements will not be spared. He further said BSF personal have seized approximate 219 kg heroin in 2014 along with firearms and FICN of Rs.4 lakh.
