FARMERS URGED TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF GOVT SCHEMES FOR SAVING OUR ENVIRONMENT

Raikot (Ludhiana), February 3, 2019: Under the Mission Tandrust Punjab of the Punjab government, 350 progressive farmers, who did not burn paddy straw were honoured during a function organised at Jalaldiwal village near here today. This function was organised by Gadri Baba Dulla Singh Giani Nihal Singh Foundation, in association with CII. This function was organised to ensure that our environment is saved and it was organised under the leadership of Foundation director Dr Harminder Singh Sidhu and Tota Singh Deena.

During the function, Joint Director Agriculture Manmohan Kalia, former ADC JP Singh and PAMETI Director Dr Harjit Singh Dhaliwal were the chief guests.

While addressing the function, Manmohan Kalia said that humans are responsible for our depleting environment because we are polluting it for our personal motives. He said that if this problem is not checked soon, day is not far when several lives would be lost. He also appealed to the farmers to not burn paddy and wheat straw for the sake of saving our environment.

JP Singh and Dr Harjit Singh Grewal said that collective effort is required for saving our environment. He appealed to the farmers to take full advantage of the government schemes. They said that the farmers should make full use of machinery to check the problem of paddy straw.

On this occasion, 350 progressive farmers who did not burn paddy straw were honoured. Besides, national level hockey players from the village were also honoured. Manpreet Kaur Patti was also specially honoured on the occasion.

15th blood donation camp, with the support of Krishna Charitable Society and CMC Hospital, was also organised on the occasion, in which more than 100 people donated blood.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sarpanch Jagjit Singh Jagga, Harminder Singh Chhina, Comrade Surinder Singh Jalaldiwal, Tehsil Secretary Harinderpreet Singh Honey, Panches Pritpal Singh, Karnail Singh, besides several others.
