34th All India Postal Table Tennis Tournament 2018-19 to be held in Dharamshala

Dharamshala, September 23, 2018: This year, Himachal Pradesh Circle of the Department of Posts in India is organizing 34th All India Postal Table Tennis Tournament 2018-19 at Sports Authority of India Indoor Stadium, Sports Complex, Dharamshala (HP), from 24th September to 28th September-2018.

Secretary of HP Circle Postal Sports Board P.C.Gautam, said, “Bhawani Mukharjee, Dronacharya Awardee in Table Tennis field will inaugurate the tournament on 24th September in the presence of Guest of Honour, Ms.Sushma Verma, and National Cricket Player from Himachal. Anil Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, HP Circle, Shimla will be the chief guest of the closing ceremony on 28th September-2018.”

He added that sixteen teams (one each from a circle), from all over India are coming to participate in this tournament. Mukharjee said, "Himachal Postal Circle Table Tennis team is being represented by five men, one veteran and three women players. Alkesh Saini,who had recently won silver medal in Asia Pacific Masters Games 2018 held at Penang (Malaysia) from 7th to 15th September 2018, is captaining the Himachal Pradesh team.”

Talking to media in Dharamshala on Sunday he said, “Department of Posts has been encouraging sports persons working in the
Department and organizing 13 sports & a cultural event at various levels. These events help in inculcating a spirit of camaraderie sportsmanship and national integration amongst its employees.”
