30 persons rescued during Civil Defence Air Strike/Blackout Mock exercise at PAU
A civil defence air raid and blackout mock exercise was successfully conducted at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Friday evening from 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm.
Ludhiana, April 24, 2026: A civil defence air raid and blackout mock exercise was successfully conducted at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Friday evening from 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm.
The drill aimed to assess emergency preparedness, response coordination, and public safety measures in the event of a simulated air raid incident.
During the drill, a total of 30 persons were safely rescued by the Punjab Home Guards & Civil Defence teams, NDRF and associated emergency responders. The operation demonstrated swift action, effective communication, and coordinated efforts among various response units, including rescue teams, medical staff, and security personnel.
The mock exercise commenced with an air raid warning signal, which disseminated through sirens. The blackout simulation was implemented across the designated area, with strict adherence to protocols to ensure realism and preparedness. Civil Defence volunteers, NDRF, Fire Brigade, Health, Home Guard, NCC and others actively participated in the drill, following standard operating procedures.
Incident Commander and Naib Tehsildar Ranjit Singh who is also Naib Tehsildar expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the mock drill, highlighting the importance of such exercises in enhancing readiness and minimizing risks during real emergencies.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included MC Assistant Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, Punjab Home Guards & Civil Defence District Commander Dilbagh singh, Store superintendent Gurpreet Singh, Company Commanders Sukhwinder singh, Jaspreet Singh, Hemant Kumar, Harnek Singh, besides several others.
