3 Punjab Girls Bn NCC Cadets undergo drone training at NSTI
A Five days drone training was imparted to fifteen NCC Girl Cadets and five training staff of 3 Punjab Girls Bn NCC Ludhiana including Permanent Instructors, Associate NCC Officer and Girl Cadet Instructor from May 19 -23 by the training team at National Skill Training Institute, Ludhiana. The coordination and selection of cadets involved deep interest by the principal of both the Institutes. Dr. Sanjeev Chandel, RS Model School, Ludhiana and Karamjeet Kaur, KGSS School, Ludhiana.

The Drone training given to NCC Girl Cadet as part of contemporary training and Skill Development initiative based on higher direction of the Director General National Cadet Corps. Lt Gen Gurbir Pal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM and guidelines from the Additional Director General Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Directorate Maj Gen Jagdeep Singh Cheema and guidance of the Group Commander Brig Paramjeet Singh Cheema, SM, VSM. The Drone training as part of NCC Curriculum has been aligned with the Prime Ministers National aim of Skill Development.
The drone training of NCC Girl cadets envisaged Integration of drones for various application in defense, surveillance, and disaster management. Also, to provide hands on experience with cutting edge technology, fostering team work, discipline and technical expertise.
The NCC cadets got inspired by Drone battle during “Operation Sindoor” volunteered to undergo Drone Training. Many NCC Cadets are in waiting for next Batch.
The drone training for first batch comprised of introductory sessions covering fundamental electrical concept to make them understand operation of drones. Also, the introduction to eco system of drone in government bodies private companies and end users. The Training Officer Mr Karnail Singh guided the NCC Girl cadets through the nuances of Drone handling.
Thereafter, the NCC Girl Cadets were introduced to drones, application and over view of different types of drones and their components, followed by simulator training. The Regional Director Lt Col Vishal Arora emphasized the initiative under taken by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship while interacting with the NCC Girl cadet.
The day three commenced with deepening practical skill. The NCC Girl Cadets were introduced to mission planner software for configuring and managing autonomous drive flights sessions on camera and LIDAR interfacing for aerial photography, mapping and date collection. For cadet Raunek of Khalsa Girls Senior Secondary School was the best experience for her in learning a new skill. She said this “I am happy to be part of the First batch of Drone Training.”
The day four and day five were dedicated to live drone flying and drone maintenance including inspection, trouble shoot and maintenance for long term performance.
The certificates were handed over to NCC cadets by Lt Col Vishal Arora. During the certificate distribution ceremony on 28 May 2025 cadet Vani from RS Model School Ludhiana said “We are thankful to our NCC staff that they provided us Skill in handling drone.” The Commanding Officer Col RS Chauhan committed to upskill all the NCC Cadets in drone flying as an objective envisaged by DGNCC. The next batch of Drone training commencing soon. All the NCC cadets will get exposure to Drone handling in the coming Annual Training Camps of the NCC cadets.
