Chandigarh, January 21, 2014: Directorate of Governance Reforms, Punjab has conducted 3 Days Specialised eGovernance Training Programme (STeP) on ‘Information Security Management for e-Governance Projects’ (S2-ISM). This workshop was organised for IT Secretaries, Directors and key personnel in the Information Technology Departments at State and Local government level, Project Managers designated for e-Governance initiatives at State/Local government level, and Information Officers identified for the Government from various Departments and District offices of State / members in SeMT/ PeMT of Punjab who are expected to lead / play crucial role in e-Governance implementation of state Government.

Kavita Singh, IAS, Special Secretary Cum Director Governance Reforms, Government of Punjab welcoming the experts and participants laid focus on importance of Information Security Management in various e-Governance projects. She said that this workshop was organised to equip the officers with skills and knowledge on Information Security Management for e-Governance Projects’ (S2-ISM) for State level e-Governance initiatives and e- Governance projects being implemented in the state under National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). 

This training was organised in coordination with National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), Hyderabad to build State Capacity Building as per guidelines of Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India. The training was attended by senior officers/ Officials from various Departments and District Offices of State of Punjab.

During the 3 days program on Information Security Management, participants were provided knowledge on Introduction to e-Governance and e-Governance Project Life Cycle , : Information Technology & its role in e-Governance , Introduction to Information Security in e-Governance , Security in end user environment , Physical, Network & Environmental Security , Operating System Security , Legal Frame Work and IT Act 2000 , Securing Business Applications, Information Security Audit – Concepts &

 Importance, Models and Frameworks for Information Security Management , Disaster Recovery Planning , Cryptography & Concept of Digital Signatures , Security Policies, Institutional Frame Work - CERT India .

The specialized Training Programme on Information Security Management was conducted by Sh. BG Gupta and Sh. Raghu Patri from NISG.

Distinguished officers also performed in various activities on Information Security Management. Sh. Manpreet Singh, Sr. Consultant, PM from Punjab SeMT (DGR) gave Presentation on Progress of eGovernance Projects in the state.
