2835 samples for Covid-19 taken in Ludhiana district

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today informed that under the “Mission Fateh” of the Punjab government, the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured in district Ludhiana is increasing with each passing day. He said that there are 1170 active patients in the district at present.

He said that sincere efforts are being made to keep people safe from Covid-19. He said that a total of 255 patients (226 new patients from district Ludhiana and 29 from other states/districts) have tested positive in the last 24 hours.

He further said that till date, a total of 722492 samples have been taken, out of which a report of 722212 samples have been received, of which 688539 samples were found negative while reports of 280 samples were pending. He said that now, the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 29059, while 4614 patients belong to other districts/states.

He said that unfortunately, 5 patients lost their lives today ( 4 from district Ludhiana and 1 from district Fatehgarh Sahib).  Now,  the total number of persons who lost their lives including 1054 people from Ludhiana and 529 from other districts.

He informed that till date, 60574 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present, the number of such persons is 3009. Today, 224 persons were sent for home quarantine.

He said that whenever the District Administration and Health Department Ludhiana finds out about any positive or suspected COVID 19 person, their samples are immediately sent for testing. Similarly, 2835 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly.

Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma appealed to the residents to adhere all the safety protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands frequently of the Punjab government to not only save themselves but keeping everyone around safe.
