22nd Inter Amity Institutions Sport Meet ‘Sangathan 2021’

To promote healthy competition, camaraderie and team spirit amongst the students, which immensely contribute towards their holistic development, Amity started with its 22nd Inter Amity Institutions Sport Meet ‘ Sangathan 2021’ which also marks the commemoration of Founder’s Day, celebrating the birthday of Dr. Ashok K Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Group of Institutions.

 

The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the mashaal by Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, signifying the energy being passed amongst students of Amity campuses, including Amity School Sector 44 and Greater Noida campus.

 

The unfurling of “Sangathan Flag” marked the beginning of the glittering ceremony that was followed by declaring the Sangathan ‘open’, by Dr Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University and who then handed over the Sangathan Mashaal to the Captain of previous years’ winning team, followed by the release of the Pigeons and Balloons signifying freedom, peace, harmony and team spirit amongst the players. He kickstarted the  exhibition/inaugural Football Match  which was played between the team of Amity School of Engineering and Technology and the team of Amity School of Physical Education & Sports Sciences.

 

Addressing the august gathering, Dr Atul Chauhan said to keep the mind healthy, it is necessary to keep the body healthy and sports always keeps the body and mind healthy. Sangathan is organized to encourage the students towards sports and develop unity, leadership and sportsman spirit in them. Sangathan competition is a symbol of the energy of our youth. Dr Chauhan said that students are the future of Amity and the country in which I see, they are the leaders of tomorrow. Amitians have helped relentlessly , sacrificed , offered selfless caring for others in difficult times to  each other but and even strangers and that’s what Sangathan stands for, averred Dr. Chauhan.

 

Keeping the pandemic in view and following the covid protocols, this year, 8 sport events including cricket, chess, carom, shooting, softball, table tennis, tennis and athletics are being played by over 1000 students of Amity University Noida and Greater Noida Campus and 6 sports events namely shooting, chess, carom, tennis, table tennis and athletics will be played between staff and faculty of Amity.

  

Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that Sangathan is a perfect mélange of sports events played with unlimited energy in the true spirt of sportsmanship. This biggest sports extravaganza will also see few vintage games being held involving physical as well as emotional fitness.

 

Dr Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor, Amity University said this hybrid mode of Sangathan held globally amongst all Amity Universities is not only mesmerizing but also brings together students, faculty and directors on a common ground where everybody plays not to win but to be together as a team and support each other.

 

Also present on the occasion were Mrs. Pooja Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity School of Film and Drama and Vice Chairperson, Amity Humanity Foundation, Mr. Abhay Chauhan, Dr. W Selvamurthy- President, Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation, head of Amity Institutes, deans, faculty members and hundreds of students watching this stupendous function in hybrid mode.
