22.5 Kg heroin recovered in a joint operation by BSF and Punjab Police

Ferozepur, December 22, 2015: In a joint operation, the sleuths belonging to Punjab Police and Border Security Force, 22 Kg 530 gram heroin, worth about Rs.110 Crore, has been recovered besides three persons have been arrested. While giving details during a joint press conference, Amar Singh Chahal, DIG, Ferozepur Range and R.K.Thapa, DIG, BSF, Ferozepur said that the police have arrested three persons identified as Harbhajan Singh alias Rana, Resident of Village Nihala Kilcha in Ferozepur,  Rishi Bamber, resident of Zirakpur and Saurav, resident of Phillaur along with the huge consignment of heroin.
The DIG Police said that the police had received a secret tip off that Harbhajan Singh, who is a notorious smuggler and also has relations with Pakistani drug peddlers, is going to receive a huge consignment of drugs near the border area in Ferozepur. “As soon as the information was received, a joint team of BSF and Police was constituted after having talks with senior BSF officials including R.K.Thapa, DIG, BSF and S.N.Dubey, DC (G). Later, the joint team arrested Harbhajan Singh at a special naka laid near village Gatti Rajo Ke and the 22 Kg heroin was recovered from him. Later the police arrested two more persons identified as Rishi and Saurav from border road. These two had come to receive this consignment for further delivery. A SUV (number PB08 CH-1110) was also recovered from them.  The police also recovered 530 gram heroin from them”, said SSP Hardyal Singh Mann.
Later a case under sections 21/29/61/85 NDPS Act (case number 325 dated December 20, 2015) at Ferozepur Sadar Police Station.
The DIG Amar Singh Chahal said that several cases under NDPS act have already been registered against Harbhajan Singh. “Last year also, Harbhajan had received a huge consignment of heroin from Pakistan which was further sold to the international smugglers. “We are investigating further and very soon more revelations will be made”, Said DIG Chahal.
