210 Families Get Ownership Rights Under ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ Scheme

Khanna, October 16, 2026: Under the Punjab Government’s ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme, 210 families from Kotla Dhak and Panjrukhha villages in the Khanna Assembly constituency have been granted ownership rights to their residential houses. At a programme organised in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Khanna MLA and Punjab Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond handed over property cards to 70 families in Kotla Dhak village and 140 families in Panjrukhha village. The initiative provides documentary recognition of property rights to families who have been residing in their homes for a long time.
Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that the grant of ownership rights would help strengthen families socially and economically. With the property cards, owners of houses falling within the Lal Lakir will be able to buy and sell their properties in accordance with applicable rules. Subject to the prescribed regulations and bank requirements, they will also be able to seek loans against their properties and transfer ownership to their children or other legal heirs. He added that clear ownership rights would help reduce property-related disputes and enable people to make better use of their assets.
Minister Sond said that the Punjab Government is committed to securing people’s rights, strengthening them economically and ensuring that the benefits of government welfare schemes reach people at the grassroots level. He added that property cards would serve as important documents by providing greater clarity regarding ownership rights and facilitating property-related transactions in the future. Revenue Department officials were also present on the occasion.
