200th train carrying migrants departs from Ludhiana today

Ludhiana: The 200th train carrying migrants to their home state departed from Railway Station, Ludhiana today. Since May 5, 2020, when the first train had departed from Ludhiana, more than 3.20 lakh migrants have been sent to their home states through these trains.
    The 200th train departed for Madepur, which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal. He was also accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Ashwani Kapoor, SDM Mr Sagar Setia, SDM Mr Amarjit Singh Bains, besides other officials.
    It is pertinent to mention that the District Administration sends around 1600 migrants in each train and till date, a total of 203 trains have departed for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Jharkhand and other states.
    He informed that till date, around 3.20 lakh migrants have been safely sent to their home states. He informed that the migrants who had got themselves registered, the District Administration had provided them with an opportunity to travel to their home states by making calls as well as sending SMSes. He said that the migrants were also given chance of manual registration for one day.
    He informed that now also, persons who approach the district administration for travelling to their home states, appropriate arrangements would be made for their journeys. He said that more than 8 lakh people had registered for travelling to their home states and as a large number of industries have started their operations, these persons do not wish to travel now as they have returned to their jobs. /(May 30)
