Chandigarh, March 16, 2024: The two day National Seminar on “National Curriculum Framework For School Education-2023: A Paradigm Shift towards Excellence in School Education” successfully concluded today at Govt. College of Education on 16th March 2024.

The second day of the seminar began with the technical session including four paper presentation on the theme Vocational, Value-related and Attitudinal (Dispositions- related)-focus in NCFSE-2023 aligned to NEP-2020, Skill Development in School Education as per NCFSE-2023, Pedagogical challenges across the stages in School Education. The session was chaired by Prof. Nain Singh, Former Professor and Chairperson Department of Education, HPU, Shimla & Member Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Shimla. Prof. Nain Singh is alumnus of the college from 1988 batch. In his address he discussed about the challenging role of teachers as felicitator of knowledge and associated responsibilities with it.   

The second technical session was chaired by Prof. N. R. Sharma, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Principal Saheed Udham Singh Panjab University Constituent College (Guru Har Sahai). He emphasized on holistic development of learner which is possible through interdisciplinary approach towards education. He concluded the session by highlighting that the assessment procedure should be at multiple levels and should include parent, community members and not just teachers. The session had eight paper presentations on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality in School Education; Teacher Education in tune with NCFSE-2023; Enabling the Active Involvement of Parents, Family and Community in Education.

Prof. Kartar Singh, Department of Education, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, was the chief guest and chair for the third technical session of the day cum valedictory session of the two days national seminar and remarked that NCFSE shall prove be a milestone in transforming the school education. He also discussed in detail about the hands on strategies for integrating NCFSE in schools by incorporating proper training modules for teachers and other stakeholders in the field of education and aligning the teachers’ education programs for achieving the aims and objectives of recent and comprehensive curriculum framework.

Delegates and speakers across the North Western region of the nation participated enthusiastically in the seminar and presented papers on the concept of NCFSE-2023. All technical sessions were followed by interactive and stimulating discussions. The two days national seminar concluded with the remarks by Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college. She congratulated all the participants for effective paper presentation and appreciated their efforts for making this seminar a great success. She further added that such platforms provide enriched learning experiences to the prospective teachers as well as researchers in the field of education.

Formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ravinder Kumar to the Chief Guest, Resource persons and delegates for their graceful presence. The seminar was sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research North-Western Regional Centre: Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Anurag Sankhian and Dr. Sheojee Singh were the Conveners of the National Seminar.
