Jalandhar, October 17, 2019: A two-day workshop on Creative Writing concluded successfully at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar with constructive propositions for the development and progression of Punjabi Literature and creative output methodologies. Eminent literary personality and dramatist Dr.Pali Bhupinder Singh graced the program as Chief Orator whilst overseas author Balbir Kaur Sanghera was also a special guest on this occasion.
College Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra along with Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head, PG Department of Punjabi and Dr. Surinderpal Mand, Workshop Coordinator welcomed the dignitaries with a bouquet of flowers. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra emphasized the role of literature which holds its own unique and irreplaceable significance in the modern world of super fast technology which only goes on to highlight the virtue of such workshops on literary creation. Dr. Samra also recognized literature as a source of learning for students and society alike whilst adding that literature mirrors the happenings of day to day life. He also called on the students to make the most of such enlightening platforms.
Dr. Surinderpal Mand, Workshop Coordinator outlined and reviewed the entire proceedings of the workshop. Chief orator Dr. Pali Bhupinder Singh presented his views on the creative process of literary genres which derive their essence from the experiences collected in the human mind. He also stressed the need to be active and conversational during literary creations instead of a passive conduct in the same. Overseas author Balbir Kaur Sanghera put forth her views on overseas literature and real life experiences from the same.
On the second and concluding day of the workshop, Dr. Satnam Singh Jassal, an expert in the field of Dramatic Genre was duly welcomed to the college by Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra. In his key note address, Dr. Jassal presented his views on the dramatic genre creations and dramatic criticism whilst adding that the procedure of criticism also forms an imperative part of the creative outputs of an author. A Creative Writing competition was also held as a part of this workshop wherein students displayed their creative talents through Poetry and Story writing.
Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, Head, PG Department of Punjabi delivered the vote of thanks on this occasion. The workshop was also overseen by the presence of the entire faculty of PG Department of Punjabi namely, Dr. Harjinder Singh Sekhon, Dr. Sukhdev Singh Nagra, Prof. Kuldip Sodhi, Prof. Gulzar Singh, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Prof. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Sukhraj Kaur, Prof. Gurbir Singh, Prof. Salinder Singh, Prof. Sonu Samrai, Prof. Gurjeet Singh Khosa, Prof. Arinder Singh and Dr. Ajitpal Singh from the PG Department of Political Science.
