2-day Chess Tournament kicks off at CT World School

Jalandhar, April 21, 2018: Every chess master was once a beginner. Keeping this in mind and in order to make future chess champions, Jalandhar Chess Association (JCA) is organizing a two day chess tournament at CT World School, Shahpur. The tournament was inaugurated by Mr.Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group, Mr.Harpreet Singh, Vice Chairman, JCA President Dr.J S Cheema and General Secretary Mr.Muneesh Thapar.

The tournament is being held under seven different categories, U-9, U-13, U-17 (each open and girls separate) and U-25 (Open). More than players from the city are participating in this tournament. The players that qualified for third round are Dhairya Aggarwal (U-9); Shreyas Arora (U-9); Shreshi Gupta (U-9); Tushita Chopra (U-13); Arshia Madaan (U-13); Singh Dimpalvir (U-13); Shiv Jindal (U-13); Aditya Jain (U-17); Dhirain Vij (U-17); Dushyant Sharma (U-25); Anshul Mehta (U-25) etc.

Telling about the event, General Secretary of JCA, Mr. Muneesh Thapar said, “This is the first tournament of the year which is being played as Swiss League System under latest FIDE Laws. This is a selection tournament for Punjab state championship. Winners will represent Jalandhar district in the coming Punjab state chess tournament in respective categories.”

Mr. Manbir Singh, Managing Director, CT Group lauded the efforts of JCA for organizing this event of great interest and said that such events increases the power of thinking and reasoning of the players and make them more witty and active.
