14322 MTs of wheat and rice allocated for Himachal Pradesh under PMGKAY

Shimla/Dharamsala, August 31, 2021: Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), a quantity of 14322 metric tonnes (MTs) of wheat and rice, (5 kg per person per month for July 2021to November 2021) has been allocated for Himachal Pradesh.
Dr. Rajesh Gulia, General Manager, Food Corporation of India, Shimla informed that under this scheme, over 8000 metric tonnes of wheat and over 5900 metric tonnes rice allocated against the month of July, 2021 has already been issued to the state government for providing
free to the listed beneficiaries.
He added that the lifting of the foodgrains for the month of August is about to complete and over 7900 metric tonnes wheat and over 5700 metric tonnes rice has been lifted by the State Government, in the 4 th week of the current month.
Dr. Gulia further informed that against the allocation of September 2021, approx. 3800 metric tonnes wheat and approx. 2600 metric tonnes rice has been lifted by the State Government.
He said, apart from this, food grains under regular allocation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Other Welfare Schemes (OWS) are also being issued timely.
