Dindigul, February 25, 2026: For lower limb amputees from Dindigul and neighbouring regions, Wednesday marked a powerful new beginning as FMCG major CavinKare, in association with Freedom Trust, distributed 135 custom-made artificial limbs under the 11th edition of its flagship CSR initiative, Cavin’s Walk India — restoring mobility, independence and renewed confidence to beneficiaries.
The milestone edition celebrates over a decade of impact, with more than 1,000 amputees across India benefitting from the initiative since its launch in 2014. This year’s camp was organized in Dindigul to address the accessibility gap faced by economically disadvantaged amputees in the district. The artificial limbs were handed over by Srivatsan Krishnamurthi, Business Head - Cold Chain, CavinKare, in the presence of medical professionals, CavinKare employees, Freedom Trust employees and local dignitaries.
“Mobility is fundamental to dignity, independence and opportunity. The loss of mobility affects not just an individual’s ability to move, but also their livelihood, confidence and family life. At CavinKare, we are deeply committed to supporting persons with disabilities and driving meaningful, sustained change. Our annual CSR initiative, the CavinKare Ability Awards, stands as a testament to this commitment and our continued efforts to champion inclusion and empowerment. As we mark 11 years of ‘Walk India’, we have identified beneficiaries in collaboration with Freedom Trust across regions surrounding our manufacturing facilities, as part of our endeavour to give back to the communities that support us. Since its inception, Cavin’s Walk India has reached beneficiaries in locations including Erode, Krishnagiri, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Assam, Haridwar and Guwahati, reflecting CavinKare’s commitment to inclusive community development across regions where it operates.
We are proud to bring the initiative to Dindigul this year, extending access to quality prosthetic care and enabling individuals from the region to rebuild their lives with confidence, dignity and renewed independence.,” said Srivatsan Krishnamurthi, Business Head - Cold Chain, CavinKare
Adding to this, Dr. Sunder Subramaniam - Trustee, Freedom Trust said “Ever since the launch of our Walk India Project 2017, Cavinkare has been partnering with us every year. Incidence of amputation being large in our Country, the need for our support is also always on the increase. We target 100 beneficiaries in a camp, the turnout is always more. This year too while our target was 100 we ended up taking measurements for 125 beneficiaries. Though we say that the camp was held at Dindigul, beneficiaries were from Srivilliputtur, Theni, Madurai, Natham, Ottanchathiram, Pazhani, Salem, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tiruppur and Virudunagar. We express our heartfelt thanks to M/s. Cavinkare for its unstinted support and raising up to the requirement.”
Beneficiaries underwent detailed medical assessments before being fitted with customized prosthetic limbs designed to support comfortable and long-term mobility. For many recipients, the support means returning to work, education and everyday independence after years of hardship.
“After losing my leg, I depended on others even for small daily tasks. Today, I am standing and walking on my own again. This support has given me confidence and hope to rebuild my life,” said a beneficiary from Dindigul district.
By bringing the campaign to Dindigul this year, the company sought to strengthen grassroots outreach in Tamil Nadu, ensuring that individuals from smaller districts receive access to essential rehabilitation support.
The Cavin’s Walk India Campaign remains one of CavinKare’s longest-running CSR initiatives, focused on enabling mobility and empowering amputees to rebuild their lives with dignity.
