11th Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON-2017) to commence from 9th March at Panjab University


Chandigarh, March 7, 2017: Panjab University (PU) will host the 11th Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON-2017) from 9th – 11th March, 2017, in collaboration with CRIKC, the academic and research institutes of Chandigarh region on the theme “Advancing Sustainable Development through Science, Technology and Innovation”. The congress aims to update the participants on the present scientific scene and direct future research for meeting the goal of sustainability in the economical, social and environmental domains. Almost 1000 scholars, researchers, academicians, scientists and industrialists shall share a common platform of CHASCON-2017 to exchange views and ideas relevant to the pursuit of sustainable growth to achieve real-world use of scientific innovations for society at large.
The Congress is all set to start tomorrow with Prof. Ram Ramaswamy, President, Indian Academy of Sciences, School of Physical Sciences, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi, delivering the Key-Note address. Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, PCS will be the Guest-of-Honour of the inaugural session. Later in the day, the scientific sessions include expert lectures by eminent personalities: Prof. Sat Dev Batish, Athena Diagnostics, USA; Prof. Shankar Ghosh, TIFR, Mumbai; Prof Pratap Ray Chaudhuri, TIFR Mumbai and Dr. Gautam Sheet IISER, Mohali will deliver expert lectures. The day shall end with special evening expository talks by Padam Shri Dr. Jitendra Nath Goswami, Former Director, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad and Prof. B.S. Chavan, Head, Deptt. Of Psychiatry, GMCH-32, Chandigarh.
On day 2 special technical sessions including plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations shall be conducted by the 12 scientific sections of the Congress. An evening popular talk will be delivered by Major General (Retd.) I. P. Singh. Prof. Partha Sarthi Mukherjee, IISc, Bangalore; Prof. Vidita Ashok Vaidya, TIFR Mumbai; Prof. Naveen Garg, IIT Delhi; Prof. P. V. Madhusudhan Rao, IIT Delhi will deliver talks on the concluding day on a variety of topics related to the theme of the Congress. This shall be followed by the valedictory talk by Prof. J. V. Yakhmi, DAE-Raja Ramanna Fellow and Former Associate Director, BARC, Mumbai and prize distribution.
Albeit the last date of registration for the event (11th CHASCON-2017) was 5th March, 2017; limited spot registration is also available on 9th March, 2017.
