112.70 lakh tonnes wheat procured in Punjab

Chandigarh, May 13, 2014: Government agencies and private millers procured more than 112.70 lakh tonnes of Wheat till last evening.

According to an official spokesman,  out of total procurement of 112.70 lakh tonnes of wheat Government agencies procured 97.6% till date whereas private traders procured 2.4% of wheat. Till May 12, PUNGRAIN had procured 18.66 lakh tonnes (16.8%) whereas MARKFED procured 24.76 lakh tonnes (21.9%). PUNSUP procured 23.38 lakh tonnes (20.8%), PSWC procured 12.74 lakh tonnes (11.3%) whereas PAIC was able to procure 11.00 lakh tonnes    (9.8 %) of wheat.

The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 17.57 lakh tonnes of wheat which was the 15.6% of the total procurement of wheat in the state.

The spokesman added that district Sangrur with 10.03 lakh tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas district Ludhiana with  8.82 lakh tonnes of procurement was at second slot and District Bathinda with 8.06 lakh  tonnes of procurement ranked at third position .

The  spokesman further said that 578198 mt. tonnes wheat procured in  District Amritsar  while 634214 tonnes in Tarntarn, 441800 tonnes in Gurdaspur,30964 tonnes in Kapurthala, 501878 tonnes in Jalandhar, 251259 tonnes in Hoshiarpur   207604 tonnes in Nawan Shehr, 790691 tonnes in Patiala, 1003768 in tonnes  Sangrur, 428528 tonnes in Ludhiana, 248287 tonnes in Fathegarh Sahib, 96636 tonnes in Mohali, 139519 tonnes in Ropar, 743947 tonnes in Ferozpur, 615723 tonnes in Fazilka, 728313 tonnes in Moga, 457441 tonnes in Faridkot, 761789 tonnes in Mukatsar, 806418 tonnes in Bathinda and 550524 tonnes procured in Mansa .
