Jalandhar, January 15, 2026: Vajra Corps commemorated the 10th Defence Services Veterans’ Day with solemnity, warmth and a deep sense of camaraderie, paying heartfelt tribute to the indomitable spirit, selfless service and enduring legacy of India’s Veterans. The observance reaffirmed the Nation’s enduring gratitude to those who dedicated their lives to safeguarding its sovereignty, unity and core values.

Observed annually on 14 January, Defence Services Veterans’ Day marks the retirement of India’s first Army Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa, and symbolises the unbreakable bond between the Armed Forces and their extended family of Veterans.

To mark the occasion, heartfelt interactions were organised at the Vajra Sainik Institute, bringing together over 280 Veterans, Veer Naris and family members. Major General Atul Bhadauria, Chief of Staff, Vajra Corps, warmly welcomed the gathering and expressed profound gratitude for their courage, resilience and immeasurable sacrifices in service to the Nation. He particularly acknowledged their steadfast support during Operation Sindoor and Operation Rahat, and reaffirmed the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the honour, dignity and welfare of Veterans and their families.

Reinforcing this commitment, on-the-spot grievance redressal and assistance were facilitated through dedicated grievance-redressal cells, ensuring timely support and practical solutions for Veterans and their dependents.

The commemorations reflected not only a respectful tribute to the past, but also the enduring bond between generations of soldiers, reaffirming the Nation’s solemn promise to always stand by those who have stood guard for it.
