The 42 Photographs on Display Each Tell a Distinct Story: Rajni Bector
Ludhiana, August 19, 2026: On the occasion of World Photography Day, the 10th Annual Photo Exhibition ‘One Thousand Words’, organised by the Ludhiana Photojournalist Association at Laxmi Ladies Club, was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Padma Shri Awardee Rajni Bector, President of E-9 Foundation Heena Singal, Aman Sandhu, and President of Ramgarhia Education Council Ranjodh Singh. After the inauguration, the chief guests and other dignitaries took keen interest in the photographs displayed at the exhibition and highly appreciated the artistry and keen eye of the photojournalists.
On the occasion, Padma Shri Awardee Rajni Bector appreciated the initiative undertaken by the Ludhiana Photojournalist Association and said that the 42 photographs displayed at the exhibition each presented a distinct story. She said, “I truly understood the meaning of the title ‘One Thousand Words’ after coming here today. A photograph can often convey the reality of society much more powerfully than thousands of words.” She congratulated the entire association team for this unique and impactful initiative.
Heena Singal, President of E-9 Foundation and Deputy MD, Deepak Builder, appreciated the exhibition and said that she would like these excellent photographs captured by photojournalists to be displayed permanently as well. She said, “I would be very happy if these photographs are displayed here permanently.” She congratulated all members of the Ludhiana Photojournalist Association for organising the successful exhibition.
On the occasion, Acting Mayor Rakesh Parashar said that photojournalists present before the public, through their photographs, the events taking place in society every day, along with changes and different colours of everyday life. He said that organising a photo exhibition continuously for the past ten years is a unique and commendable initiative of the Ludhiana Photojournalist Association. He congratulated the entire association team and expressed his wishes for the continuation of such efforts in the future.
Association Chairman Gurmeet Singh said that cameras used by the Late Dharamvir for photography in earlier times have become a special attraction at the exhibition. He said that viewing old photography equipment is providing people, especially the younger generation, an opportunity to learn about the history of photography and how it has evolved over time. At the same time, a glimpse of modern photography in today’s digital era has also been effectively showcased through the exhibition.
Association President Kuldeep Singh Kala said that his fellow photojournalists work every day with a spirit of healthy competition, striving to capture the best photographs for their respective newspapers. He said that the exhibition has now reached its tenth year, and it is a matter of pride and happiness for him to represent the association.
During the event, the management committee of the Ludhiana Photojournalist Association warmly welcomed the chief guests and dignitaries and honoured them with mementoes. Students from various schools also showed special interest in the exhibition and looked at the photographs as well as the old cameras with great curiosity.
Among others, Gurudwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Chief Sewadar Preetpal Singh, Punjabi actor Deep Joshi, Ramgarhia Education Council President Ranjodh Singh, Pritpal Singh Pali, Councillor Pradeep Gaibi, Councillor's husband Sunny Bhalla, Rohit Khullar, Raju Kanojia, Jugal Goyal, Sanam Mehra from FICCI FLO, Aman Sandhu, Uma Gupta, Advocate Kamal Jyoti, Dr. Vatsayan, Rohit Dhir, Cherry Ahluwalia, Advocate Vipin Saggar, Advocate Himanshu Walia, senior BJP leader Jiwan Gupta, Ruchi Vishal Gulati, Sanjeev Chaudhary, Rakesh Parashar, Ashwani Sharma, Parveen Dang, senior journalist Pramod Batish, Gurinder Singh, Amit Gosain and Janak Raj Goyal were specially present.
