Bathinda, June 21, 2025: As many as 100 people including senior citizens participated in a health and yoga session to highlight yoga benefits and healthy lifestyle at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Bathinda on Saturday to mark International Yoga Day.
The participants performed various asanas guided by an instructor during the occasion. The health and yoga session was followed by a free medical check-up camp and nutrition consultation to promote holistic wellness.
During the occasion, Dr. Ishtiyaq Masood an interventional cardiologist at Max Hospital, Bathinda highlighted the importance of heart health and the role of yoga in maintaining overall cardiovascular health
He said, “Yoga helps cultivate body awareness and presence, as well as lowering stress. These are critical skills for individuals facing cardiovascular conditions. Yoga improves cardiovascular conditioning, lowers cholesterol, controls blood pressure, improves quality of life, and potentially fewer cardiac distress episodes.”
Irrespective of age, staying physically active is essential for leading a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life, he opined.
People who engage in regular physical activity have a lower risk of coronary heart disease and stroke, and can release stress in a much more effective way, asserted Dr. Masood.
