PHILLAUR launches website of Punjab Tourism

Chandigarh,July 23, 2013: Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Tourism Minister Punjab has re-launched a new official website aimed at portraying a real picture of Punjab.

The new website has been designed keeping in view the requirement of online visitors. It has been divided into three sections namely Travel, Trade and Media. Travel section holds information for interested tourists and visitors who would be able to plan their trip based on information on various site for eco-tourism, pilgrimage, heritage, Archaeological themes, handicraft shopping and other information.

Trade section includes information which would be helpful to trade partners like travel agents and tour operators in order to promote Punjab. Information on tenders, trade exhibitions, development projects, new schemes, on-going projects can also be found in this section. Media section includes all the latest information relating to tourism offices and information Centre across state, information on upcoming events, statistics and surveys, e-magazine, e-brochures and other information.

Speaking on the occasion the Minister said that the website with altogether new features has been designed in an attractive and colorful manner. The videos depicting the vibrant Punjab have also been uploaded besides detailed description of all the tourist destinations in the state. Terming it more of a travelogue, the Minister said that district wise pictorial information describing each district about its historical and religious background together with the accommodations available and tours conducted, cuisine, restaurants and other attractions recommend by Punjab tourism was also attributed in the website.     

While congratulating the entire Punjab Tourism Team for reviving and re-launching of tourism website, he said that website is an integral part of any tourism organisation globally. Search engine optimization would be next step which would enable Tourism website to be more visible in search criteria through specific keywords. This would be very helpful tool in marketing state tourism to domestic and international tourists. He also asked the officers concerned with the website to keep updating on regular basis to with a view to ensuring the latest information of the users in the field of their interest.

Principal Secretary Tourism, Secretary Tourism, Director Tourism and Executive Director Punjab Heritage and Tourism promotion Board (PHTPB) and other officials of PHTPB were present on the occasion.

The website www.punjabtourism.gov.in is ready for the users.
