FRAUD BY UK CITIZENS WITH STUDENT: NRI Commission asks IG NRI Affairs to take action

Chandigarh, July 25, 2013: The NRI Commission of Punjab has asked IG/NRI Affairs to take an appropriate action on the complaint of a girl student submitted against UK citizens for affixing fake visa on her passport, fraud, cheating and breach of trust besides duping her of Rs. 8 lakh.

A spokesman of the Commission today said that Harpreet Goraya, who hails from Village Goraya, District Gurdaspur alleged in her complaint that on 16.09.2010 she went to UK on student VISA for 1 ½ years and studied at University of Sunderland. Her visa was due to expire on 31.1.12 and this fact was known to Surinderjit Singh and Joginder Kaur, the owner of Glamour Eyes and Brows Black, where she was working. They tempted her that they would get her visa extended for further two years, if she pays Rs.8 lakh.

She submitted in her complaint that 26.1.12, she paid 4672 UK pounds from her saving account and remaining amount was agreed to be paid in India. They took her passport. The said persons got affixed a fake visa on her passport on 24.1.12 and handed over the passport to her just at the time of her flight on 30.1.12. She came to India on her previous visa on 31.1.12. On reaching India, she received a call from Surinderjit Singh to make the remaining payment to their relative Dr. Gurdev Singh Randhawa & his wife, resident of Shashtri Nagar Batala for extending visa and air ticket. On 16.2.12 she along with her mother Manjinderpal Kaur, uncle Kulwant Singh lakh family friend Kanwal Singh went to Batala and met Dr. Gurdev Singh lakh his wife and paid Rs.3,36,000 in cash to them.

She said that on 19.2.12 when she went to Airport for going to UK where she was shocked to know that the visa on her passport was fake. She immediately called Joginder Kaur, who threatened her to not to bring this fact in the notice of inquiry officer. She said that her passport has been placed in black list due to fake visa.

The spokesman said that keeping in view the seriousness of this matter, the complaint has been sent to IG/NRI Affairs to look into the matter to take an appropriate action and to intimate the Commission on or before 10.9.13 about the action taken in this matter.
