ALL possible efforts be made to provide better health services to people BPL

Ferozepur, July 19, 2013: All possible efforts be made to provide the better health services to the people living under below poverty line (BPL) and for their free treatment from Rs.30 to Rs.30,000, ‘Smart Card” may be prepared.

These views were expressed by Manjeet Singh Narang, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur while presiding over the meeting of Health Department where Dr. Y. K. Gupta, Civil Surgeon and in good number of health department officials were present.

Narang said, “There are number of schemes of health department for the pregnant mothers like Mother Safety Plan, Kaushalaya Kalyan Yojna and the people of BPL category avail of these facilities from the government hospitals in the need of hour.”

Deputy Commissioner said, no doctor should proceed on leave during the rainy season and the Civil Surgeon should keep ready the medicine stock and medical teams in view of possibility of flood like situation.

Presiding over the Tobacco Task Force Meeting, Deputy Commissioner said, the persons smoking at the public places should be challaned and hoardings of banning at the prominent places should be displayed apart from making arrangements for announcements from the religious places in the rural areas.  

He however, informed that 77 peoples were challaned for consuming tobacco.

A representative of NGOs showing concern over the use of intoxicants informed that 66 per cent school students are addicted to “Gutka” and 7 girls and 3 boys out of every ten students are addicted. They assured to give the full assistance to the district administration for implementation of any programme against the use of tobacco.

On this occasion, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle informed the district administration that educational seminars against drug-addiction are being organised from July to September in the different school in the district. Sarabjeet Singh Bedi, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Dr. Sanjeev Baboola, Harish Kataria and in good number of representatives of NGOs were also present in the meeting.
