Congress candidates elected unopposed in Mallanwala and Makhu

Ferozepur, December 17, 2017: During the recent Nagar Panchayat elections held at Mallanwala and Makhu, all the Congress candidates were elected unopposed.

In Makhu, out of thirteen wards, Gurpreet Kaur wife of Sarbjit Singh won from ward number one, Naveen Grover son of Rajinder Kumar won from ward number two, Parminderjit Kaur wife of Gursewak Singh won from ward number three, Sajan son of Sarwan Masih won from ward number four, Seema Rani wife of Ramesh Thukral won from ward number five, Amit Kalra son of Vijay Kalra won from ward number six, Poonam Rani wife of Ravi Chopra won from ward number seven, Jonthan son of Surinder won from ward number eight, Bhupinder Singh son of Hardeep Singh won from ward number nine, Mohinder Madaan son of Amarnath Madaan won from ward number ten, Narinder Singh Mehta son of Gurdev Singh won from ward number eleven, Jagiro wife of Mukhtiar Singh won from ward number twelve and Parveen wife of Badev won from ward number thirteen unopposed.

In Mallanwala, out of thirteen wards, Sukhwinder Kaur wife of Lal Singh won from ward number one, Sukhwinder Singh son of Resham Singh won from ward number two, Pyaro wife of Saka won from ward number three, Roshan Lal son of Amarnath won from ward number four, Harjinder Kaur wife of Nachhattar Singh Sandhu won from ward number five, Ravinder Singh son of Kasam won from ward number six, Tarsem Singh son of Pyara Singh won from ward number seven, Jagir Singh Thind son of Bachan Singh won from ward number eight, Roop Rani wife of Rajinder Kumar won from ward number nine, Meenakshi wife of Babbal Sharma won from ward number ten, Kanta Rani wife of Sham Lal won from ward number eleven, Ajay Kumar son of Satpal won from ward number twelve and Usha Rani wife of Ramesh Atwal won from ward number thirteen unopposed.

Charandeep Singh, Election Officer, Mallanwala said that in Mallanwala thirty one candidates had filed the nomination papers out of five nominations were cancelled due to technical reasons while 13 covering candidates had taken their nominations back.

Kulbir Singh Zira, Congress MLA from Zira, in a delightful mood congratulated all the candidates from Makhu and Mallanwala. “I assure you that there will be no shortage of funds for the development projects which will be initiated by these candidates in their concerned areas”, said Zira

It is pertinent to mention here that on December 6, SAD workers were allegedly attacked by congress workers at Mallanwala following which SAD President Sukhbir Badal had staged a dharna at Harike headworks following which five congress workers were arrested while several others were booked. However, SAD candidate could file their nomination papers in both Mallanwala and Makhu block.
