Speaking at their success, Mr Abhijay Chopra says: We at Punjab Kesari are always striving to give the latest content and authenticated news to our dedicated readers and viewers. Punjab Kesari’s YouTube Channel was started as an attempt to give the viewers news on their fingertips. We are very happy that our viewers have taken so favourably to us and have made us achieve this feat in a very short span. We are committed to our viewers and hope that we are able to fulfil all their expectations from us.

To succeed in this overpopulated news market, there are several success factors that Indian news organizations are taking into account. And the most important among these are YouTube channels dedicated for news publishing.

YouTube attracts a diverse audience who are viewing content to grasp the current news. Through this report, Vidooly examines how Indian news channels are faring in their video marketing mediums which essentially becomes an integral part of their yearly advertising budgets and marketing strategies.

Vidooly’s “News Network Report” is an effort to examine the viewership growth pattern in India’s growing news industry on YouTube’s platform. This report is useful to measure the vast news network of India into three media patterns. With this report it becomes evident who is the number 1 in YouTube viewership of Print, T.V, and Digital only network’s (including properties of the networks) YouTube news channels. Vidooly has also taken Indian based News Networks into consideration.

Punjab Kesari is a Hindi-language newspaper published by the Punjab Kesari Group and has publishing centres in Punjab, Haryana, J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. It is owned by the Punjab Kesari group. It is one of the four newspapers started by the group; the other three are Hind Samachar in Urdu, Jagbani in Punjabi and Navodaya Times in Hindi from Delhi (NCR).

The data has been tabulated on the basis of views of Punjab Kesari, Jagbani, Punjab Kesari Haryana, Punjab Kesari Himachal and Punjab Kesari UP. The ranking is based on the number of views for the month of September, October, and November 2017.

In another major development, Punjab Kesari’s Food and Recipe Channel on Facebook YUM has got the second highest video views on Facebook WORLDWIDE in Indian Cuisine category. Tabulation by Vidooly shows that YUM received 58,054,788 views. In its short life span YUM has overtaken channels like Homecooking, Tamil Village Food Factory, Gobble, My Recipe Panda, Curly Tales, FoodMate, Jolly Food Fellow and Your Food Lab. YUM is slowly inching towards the number 1 Facebook food channel Hebbar’s Kitchen.

News consumption today is not the same as it was in the olden days. There was a time when people had to wait for their morning newspapers or sit down at an appointed time for the evening news on Television. Things have changed drastically in the last few years. Internet has changed the game completely.

With the surge in mass broadband adoption and the launch of 4G services, there is an increase in India’s mobile phone user base. There are over 460 million internet users in India, and is the second largest online market, ranked only behind China. By 2021, there will be about 635.8 million internet users in India. This is why news corporations have shifted their focus towards the internet as more and more people spend most of their daily lives online.

With this rise of Internet, new business models are proliferating as news organizations search for novel sources of revenue and new audience who use internet as their primary source to get news updates.
