“State of the art” Multislice CT Machine installed at CMC

Ludhiana, December 17, 2012: A state of the art 128-Slice Philips Ingenuity CT scan machine was installed at the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana. 

In a dedication service held today, the new machine was inaugurated by the Director, Dr. Abraham G. Thomas. The Director spoke about the need to keep updated in the latest advances in the field of medical imaging and said that the new CT will help in providing better patient care and services.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Chakravarti, Professor and Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana explained that the new CT unit is a ‘one stop shop’ in imaging. All peripheral and visceral, carotid, coronary and cerebral angiographies can now be easily done.  Cardiac CT, Brain perfusion studies, whole body imaging, temporal bone and dental imaging are also being done now at CMC. CMC & Hospital is one of the premier institutes in the state of Punjab for having the first conventional CT scanner way back in the year 1984 and the first single slice spiral CT scan in the year 1999 and the first 1.5 T MRI machine in the year 2004.

Rev. Stanley offered the dedication prayers.  Dr. Kanwal Masih, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Kim Mammen, Associate Director and rest of the administrative team along with faculty and staff of the Department of Radiodiagnosis were present at the dedication service. 

With this addition, the Department of Radiodiagnosis at CMC has all the latest imaging services including a 1.5T MRI, single slice spiral CT, 3D and 4D ultrasound, top of the class Fluroscopy unit, CR system and PACS.  The department also has a dedicated team of doctors to provide round the clock services including interventional unit for image guided procedures.
