Principals & Directors meet organized at Science City Kapurthala, October 11, 2019: As the technology is advancing and internet accessibility is easier, e-learning is playing significant role in every sector especially in education. Since the advent of internet , the sources of knowledge have also increased. e-books, social media, Google, text message and audio visual tools play vital role in e-learning . This was expressed by Dr. Neelima Jearth, Director General Science City on the occasion of Principal/ Director meet at Science City. Further she called upon the school principals to adopt new techniques in education as traditional learning is monotonous and it may not have sufficient tools to make various concepts in easy to understand way. In the fast-paced world of e-learning, the available technologies are making study exciting such that one can easily get updated about latest information of anyfield at the click of button. Further she added that to supplement formal science education Science City keep on organizing various, teacher training programes and celebrate socially & scientifically significant days & events. Ms.Rittika Chanda Parruck, Assistant Director, Programmes, North India Britsh Council said that, there is a constant race amongst educational institutions to stay ahead as they prepare students for life and the workplace. The critical skills identified to succeed in the world are creative thinking, problem solving, communication and personal leadership. She said that, British Council is conducting a series of workshop for school teachers to train them on teaching these skill in the class room. Dr.Tabassum Jamal, Chief Scientist, From CSIR-NISTADS said that, Indian Education System has lot of scope for innovation and growth. Many Schemes, assessments and quiz have been introduced by the Government and other organizations to assess and identify the talent among students. Further, she said that, there is dire need to provide the opportunity or platform for the students to nurture and pursue their interest . One such initiative called knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform (KAMP) has been introduced to identify, capture and amplify scientific temper among students. The vision is to identify and capture scientific and technological temperament in students to make India a global reader in the field of science, technology and humanities, she added. Mr. Amanjeet Singh CEO 2B Innovations said that, IT in education is not just about digitization, storage, and networks. IT is, at heart, about conveying knowledge. He talked about modern tools of advance e-learning methodologies, safe and secure school ecosystem and advance learning courses such as Robotic. On this occasion the Program Manager, Yogita Suyal, talked about how Girls X Tech is setting up of coding clubs in schools to provide computer literacy to the girls.
