Chandigarh, March 19, 2019: Students of 3rd year of the University Institute of Legal Studies(UILS), Panjab University, Nandish Munjal and Prabhmanjot Singh had participated in the UPES National Mediation Competition conducted by UPES, Dehradun. They were adjudged the “Best Advocate and Client Pair” at the competition. This college is well known for the quality of competitiveness that they offer in their competitions. But organising their first ever mediation competition was a dive into uncharted territory and they didn’t disappoint at all. Teams comprising of highly motivated and intelligent negotiators from leading law institutes gave our team a good run for our money. Some of the leading law institutes that participated in this competition were Symbiosis Pune, Christ University Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad to name a few. This competition was adjudged by a plethora of top mediators from all over India supported by various judges from the legal background. The performance that led to this award wouldnt have been a reality if it wasnt for Dr. Shruti Bedi, Chairperson of the ADR & CCL board of UILS. Her constant dedication and support for pushing Mediation as an important part of any young lawyers development rubbed onto them and made them appreciate this really revolutionary concept. Further, Dr. Rattan Singh, esteemed Director of UILS, having immense belief in his students nurturing under his tutelage, gave both Nandish and Prabhmanjot the opportunity to attend this competition and represent UILS at a national scale.
