Chandigarh, March 27, 2019: Two day National Conference ZOOCON-2019 organized by the Department of Zoology, PU, Chandigarh was concluded here today. Dr.R.K.Manchanda,
Director General, Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy(CCRH), New Delhi in his address, expounded how biodiversity loss leading to resurgence of old infections can be better managed by homeopathic intervention for sustainable societal health. He explained the
nanoparticulate hypothesis and hormesis activation as mechanism of action of homeopathic medicine. Dr.Manchanda also gave information regarding various schemes of Ministry of AYUSH to motivate the young students and promote research in this particular area.
Prof. R.K. Singla, Dean Research, PU, Chandigarh presided over the session and justified the relevance of theme of the conference as need of the hour. He motivated the young researchers by referring the need of perseverance for quality. The deliberations during the second day of the conference enriched the knowledge on the various aspects of biodiversity related to human health and societal welfare.
Prof. NirupamaAggarwal, UGC-Emeritus Fellow, University of Lucknow sensitised about Monogenean parasites, as major cause skin infection and large scale mortality in fishes.
Prof. SurenderGhaskadbi, Emeritus Scientist, MACS-Agharkar Research Institute, Pune elaborated about use of Hydra as model organism in Evolutionary and Developmental Biology.
Prof. Shyam S. Sharma gaveillustrating talk about use of natural products in stroke management.
Prof. Kanwaljit Chopra explained the nutraceutical potential in diabetes related diverse pathologies.
Prof. AkshayAnand inspired the budding scientists with his encouraging research related to diabetic risk score as screening strategy in Indian population.
Delegates from different Universities, Institutes and Colleges from North India illustrated their research outcomes in the form of oral and poster presentations. The best oral and poster presentations were awarded as encouragement and motivation to young students. The winners for the poster presentation were;
