Ludhiana, September 18, 2018: Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Ludhiana Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal has urged all the voters to exercise their right to vote without any fear and in a fair manner. He informed that for the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections scheduled for September 19, 2018, a large number of police personnel along with civil officers have been deputed. He informed that all arrangements for free and fair poll have been completed by the District Administration Ludhiana.

He informed that on September 19, 2018, a total of 1160751 voters would exercise their right to vote. He informed that out of the total voters, 619188 are male, 541563 are female while 16 are others.

In Dehlon, the total number of voters are 70458 (male voters is 37236, female voters 33222, others nil), in Doraha total number of voters are 78157 (41632 male, 36525 female, others nil), Jagraon 129099 (male 69228, female 59871, others 2), Khanna 69320 (36750 male, 32570 female, others 2), Ludhiana-1 172209 (male 92009, female 80200, others 1), Ludhiana-2 157294 (male 85446, female 71848, others 3), Machhiwara 71757 (male 37836, female33921, others 2), Malaud 54083 (male 28808, female 25275, others 3), Pakhowal 72676 (male 38717, female 33959, others nil), Raikot 68669 (male 36633, female 32036, others nil), Samrala 63203 (male 33591, female 29612, others nil), Sidhwan Bet 56924 (male 30043, female 26881, others nil) and the total number of voters in Sudhar is 96902 (male 51259, female 45642, others 3).

He further informed that in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana, there are 13 hyper sensitive and 128 sensitive polling booths for which 3159 staff has been deputed, for Jagraon, 24 are hyper sensitive and 66 sensitive polling booths for which 1571 staff has been deputed and for Khanna, 21 booths are hyper sensitive and 76 are sensitive for which 1012 staff has been deputed.

Mr Agrawal informed that 10300 civil staff has been deputed for the polling duty and 1200 for the counting duty. He informed that carrying of all kinds of weapons is banned in the district and all the weapons have to be deposited by people in their nearest police stations immediately. These orders were issued today, i.e. September 17, 2018, and would remain in force till September 23, 2018.

Similarly, dry days would be observed on September 19 and September 22, 2018, and that all liquor vends would remain closed on these two days. He ordered that on these days, no hotel, restaurant, club etc would be allowed to serve liquor on its premises. He ordered that no person can store liquor on these days as well. He stated that these orders have been issued to maintain law and order in view of the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.

In view of the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections scheduled on September 19, 2018 (Wednesday), a public holiday has been announced by the Punjab government in all government offices, boards, corporations and educational institutions on September 19, 2018.

The Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Ludhiana has urged the voters to exercise their right to vote in a free and fair manner. He assured that ample security arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.
