ZF Wind power Coimbatore (ZF WPC P.Ltd.) is further enhancing and strengthening its wind service capabilities, in line with ZF’s global service strategy, by setting up a dedicated service facility for the wind business.

ZF Wind Power Coimbatore is India’s only fully integrated wind turbine gearbox manufacturing facility with 4000 MW capacity p.a. and recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary. The state-of-the-art facility houses the Coimbatore Service Centre which is spread across 4200 sq.m. and has access to the advanced quality and inspection methods and manufacturing machines.

The Coimbatore service center offers one-stop shop facilities for customers which helps to reduce turbine downtimes and increase energy output. Apart from complete repair/refurbishment in the workshop, through its well-trained field service engineers and coupled with modern equipment, customers can benefit from predictive, preventive maintenance solutions in the field. This approach offers cost savings over routine or time-based preventive maintenance because tasks are performed only when warranted.

Jan Willem Ruinemans, head of ZF’s Wind Power Technology business unit adds, “ZF keeps innovating and moving forward. Our goal is to work very closely with our customers and continually improve the service we provide. We place great importance on our customer partnerships

with every aspect of wind-turbine gearboxes, from design to manufacturing and after-sales service.”

The Coimbatore Service Center has also increased its aftersales engineering service support team. The service engineers are trained and equipped to work on up-tower retrofit/repair solutions. The team is also equipped to handle service requirements beyond India.

Antti Turunen, head of Global Wind Power Service, says, “The augmentation of Coimbatore Service Center demonstrates how we are executing our global service strategy and our strong commitment to further reducing the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) of wind energy. The service engineers from Coimbatore will be part of a global network which helps to synergize the knowledge base available across continents to react rapidly and minimize the downtimes of turbines”.
