YOUTHS losing interest in Punjabi language

Ferozepur, March 2, 2013: The members of Lok Rang Manch, Ferozepur and Abohar Units organised a programme at Sahitya Sadan, to develop the cultural activities and maximum development of Punjabi language.

On this occasion, Rajinder Manjhi, Convener, Prof. Iqbal Singh Godara, Atam Ranjan, Ravi Ghayal, Mangat Ram Verma, Comrade Wazir Chand said, on the demand of Punjabis living abroad for development of Punjabi language, the governments of those countries are using the Punjab language on the Information Boards but in Punjab, the English language is being used which is reducing the interest of youths in Punjabi language which is a matter of serious concern for the society.

They said, in case the coming generations are to be imparted the knowledge of Punjabi then its maximum use is only the solution by giving priority to Punjabi language. 

The speakers said, in case the Punjab language is not used by the people, then the coming generations will not spare the persons responsible for saving the mother tongue.

The members of the Manch demanded from the government for the maximum use of Punjab language in government offices including the public programmes.

On this occasion, a Punjabi cultural programme was also presented to motivate the people to use Punjabi language.
