Members of Young Indians Ludhiana Chapter celebrate Earth Day on Wednesday.

Ludhiana, April  22, 2015: Several activities conducted including tree plantation, Trashbin placement, Replacement of Taps, Paper bag distribution & Talks on Earth Day.
World Earth Day is celebrated every year as an annual event by the people all across the world on 22nd of April in order to increase the awareness among people about the environment safety as well as to demonstrate the environmental protection measures.
“Yi’s Earth Day celebrations have continued to grow by year and year,” said Amit Juneja, Chairman of Young Indians Ludhiana Chapter. “We applaud our colleagues around the country who continue to give their time and talents through activities, and raising awareness about the environment”.
The Earth Day inspires people to get involved with local environmental projects and personal sustainable practices that benefit the local community and planet.
The day begins with Charu Juneja & Priya Chowdhary addressed the morning assembly at Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, so that students can establish an understanding of their environment and their responsibility for taking care of it.
The Yi Members celebrated the earth day by planting saplings at Khalsa College Roundabout. “The act of planting symbolized our commitment to caring for the environment,” said Aanchal Goel Co-Chair of Yi Ludhiana. Followed by placement of the Dustbin at Gurdwara Singh Sabha & Mata Rani Mandir at Sarbha Nagar also Taps were replaced to push button taps in Mata Rani Mandir.
Paper bags was being distributed among Kids of Pallavan School, South City, Little Kingdom Nursery School, Gurdev Nagar & Strawberry Kids Club, South City making them aware about to use recycle bags. “Using reusable bag can drastically minimize the plastic waste and its toxin. By simply turning to reusable bag you can take your action to protect the Earth from toxic pollution and contamination” said Amanpreet Singh Arora, Chair, Swachh Bharat, Young Indians, Ludhiana Chapter.
A Role Play Activity was taken up by Priya Chowdhery & Shivani Arora at Adarsh Public School where students were made aware about for reducing waste and trash, information about product consumption, recycling tips & facts about pollution and its effects on the environment
