Kabbadi match between USA and Argentina of 3rd World Cup Kabbadi 2012 at Guru Nank Stadium, Amritsar on Tuesday.

 

Amritsar/ Chandigah, December 4, 2012:On the 4th day of the World Kabaddi Cup 2012 three matches were play under group C and D.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab formally inaugurated the match between Kenya and Iran by having introduction with the players of both the teams.

Bikram Singh Majithia, Information and Public Relations Minister Punjab had introduction with the players of America and Argentina teams.  

Anil Joshi, Industry Minister was also present on the occasion.

The first match was played between America and Argentina. America won the match by a margin of 77-14 points.  At the end of first half America teams was leading with 39-3 points.  America’s raiders Inderdeep Singh, Kanwar Sandhu and Baljinder Singh scored 12, 9 and 8 points respectively, whereas America’s stoppers Jaskarn Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Sandeep Singh and Jesus bagged 7,6,  5 and 5 points, respectively.  Argentina’s raiders Yuri Mayar  got 6 points whereas Ivan and Alexendro clinched 3-3 points each.  Only one stopper of Argentina Seeba was successful in getting one point.

Before the inauguration of the match Sukhbir Singh Badal, Dy. CM Punjab said that the mother game of Punjabis has now been acknowledged world over. He said that it is a matter of pride for us that 2 Africian teams, Sierra Leone and Kenya have made their entry into the World Kabaddi Cup. He said that the people of Amritsar are fortunate enough because they are watching 6 teams from 5 continents playing their league matches on a single day.

Badal reiterated that the Punjab Government is fully committed to strengthen the Sport infrastructure in the schools of Punjab.  He said that the Sport Department of Punjab would provide Kabaddi Coaches to the countries who would ask for it. He said that Sports would shortly be inducted into the school curriculum as a compulsory subject.

Famous Punjabi singer Balkar Sidhu enthralled the audience with his famous beat songs. 

Prominent among other who were present at the occasion included Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Amarpal Singh Ajnala, Virsa Singh Valtoha, Pawan Kumar Tinnu, N.K. Sharma, Harmit Singh Sandhu (all Chief Parliamentary Secretaries), Former Minister Gulzar Singh Ranike, Deputy Commissioner, Rajat Aggarwal, Police Commissioner Ram Singh, Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora and Director of Sports Department Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon.
