Jalandhar, August 7, 2015: World Breast Feeding Week was celebrated at St Soldier Nursing Training Institute on Thursday. Child Specialist Dr.Anupama Saggar was the speaker and guest. Principal Mrs Neeraj Sethi welcomed her in the campus. While addressing GNM students Dr Saggar told that Breast feeding week is celebrated every year from 1st august to 7th august to promote awareness about the importance of breast feeding and to reduce deaths of babies and mothers. Breast feeding is the best for a baby. Babies should be given only breast feed for first six months and nothing else.Breast feeding should be started within one hour of delivery and should be continued till 2 years of life. Breast milk is full of antibodies, immunoglobulins and anti-allergic substances.
It prevents the baby from diarrhea, dehydration, gastroentritis, allergies and infectious diseases.
It provides initial immunity , complete and perfect nutrition to the baby. It promotes bonding of mother and baby.
