Demonstration of PPE- Personal Protective Equipment in case of Chemical Emergencies.

Ludhiana, August 21, 2019: A three-day workshop on ‘Advance Management and Response to Chemical Hazards and Emergencies’ organized by Department of Medicine in association with the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, American College of Medical Toxicology, Emory University and the DRDF Global concludes today in DMCH.

The workshop was well attended by more than 100 delegates.

The third and concluding day of the workshop today began with scientific presentation and panel discussions regarding the monitoring and managing of victims suffering from a mass chemical accidents, in an emergency.

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Prem Kumar Gupta appreciated the efforts of organizing team for conducting such informative workshop. Mr Gupta also lauded the efforts of the guest speaker and delegates who share their experience and knowledge about new concepts and methods of chemical and biological emergencies management .

Dr Ziad Kazzi from Emory University, School of Medicine from USA and Dr Vikas Kapil from Centres for Disease Control and Prevention discussed the various methods and approaches that a well-equipped hospital should adopt in responding to managing chemical emergencies.

Mr Wade Miles from Emory University US and Nisha Kapil demonstrated the use of ‘Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the chemical and biological exposure. Dr Aashish Bhalla from PGIMER Chandigarh and Sukhshant Atti (CRDF) also discussed the future issues in dealing with chemical emergency cases.

Dr Charles McKay from American College of Medical Toxicology discussed monitoring of population after a chemical emergency, Dr Parveen Aggarwal (AIIMS) discussed the chemical emergencies in India specially the Bhopal Incident.

Dr Paul Wax from American College of Medical Toxicology highlighted the details regarding the toxic and gas syndrome and demonstrated the videos pertaining to the management and decontaminated chemical disaster.

The workshop was an academic feast for all the delegates and included the lectures, panel discussion and case based discussion, videos presentation to make it more interactive and informative for the participating delegates.
