Jalandhar, December 2, 2017: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage and Autonomous institution, Jalandhar's Gandhian Studies centre organized a workshop on "Health issues in Rural Women" under its women empowerment initiates. Dr.Sat Pal Gupta, a leading doctor of the region and member of KMV managing committee was the chief guest during the workshop. He appreciated the women who had joined various life skill courses being run by the centre. He also emphasized the importance of physical and mental health.

Principal Prof.Atima Sharma Dwivedi spoke on the major concerns of health particularly among the rural women. She stressed on maintaining a balance in diet and exercise. The chief guest applauded the efforts of Dr. Monica Sharma, Director of the Gandhian Studies centre for taking up the issues of health of rural women, and organizing such workshops.

It is worth mentioning here that the centre since its inception in 2007 has been actively working towards the empowering the rural women of the region. besides proving life skill training in fashion designing, cosmetology and computers, the centre arranges counselling sessions also for these women. Having trained over 3000 women, the centre strives to do more by organising workshops and seminars on various issues.
