Workshop On Effective Communication Skills Held At PAU

Ludhiana, July 16, 2016: A workshop on “Effective Communication Skills for Transfer of Technology” was jointly organized by the Department of Extension Education and the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for the benefit of extension scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras/Farmer Service Centres working in the state.

Dr G. S. Buttar, Additional Director of Extension Education, advised the trainees to empathize the problems of farming community during their field interactions and visits.

Dr R. K. Dhaliwal, a PAU expert, dwelt on theme learning.

Earlier, while welcoming the participants, Dr Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, Professor and Head, Department of Extension Education highlighted the importance of communication skills.

During the workshop, Dr Ranjit Singh Tamber, former Additional Director Communication, shared his views on strengthening the relations between farmers and scientists. He also stressed on rapport building and team work.

Dr Kiranjot Kaur Sidhu, another expert, held a detailed discussion on improving the communication skills of subject matter specialists.

Dr Lopamudra Mohapatra shared various motivational techniques for enhancing farmers’ participation in agriculture development programmes.

Dr D.S. Bhatti, Additional Director of Extension Education, proposed the vote of thanks. A panel discussion and practice in role playing as subject matter specialists and as farmers under simulated conditions were also conducted by Dr J. S. Bhalla and Dr Dharminder Singh.
