Work on RUB at Basti Tankanwali will be started very soon: DRM Anuj Parkash

Ferozepur, September 23, 2016: Thousands of residents of belonging to Ferozepur City and cantonment areas had heaved a sigh of relief when their long pending demand of construction of an Railway Under Bridge (RUB) over the railway crossing at basti tankanwali which connects both these places, was finally approved. However, later due to some procedural wrangles, the project was stuck.
When contacted, Anuj Parkash, DRM, Ferozepur Railway Division, refuted all speculations and said that the project will be initiated soon. “The final drawings have been sent to the headquarters for the final approval. I don’t think there will be any problem with the funds now and as soon as the approval regarding the drawings will be received, the construction work will be started”, said DRM.
Earlier, the State BJP Chief Kamal Sharma had provided a cheque of Rs 7 crores to the railway officials. Since the estimated cost of this project was Rs. 10 Crore, the remaining Rs. 3 crores were provided by the Municipal Committee of Ferozepur City.
When contacted, Kamal Sharma, former State BJP Chief and member of national executive committee, BJP said that for the last seven decades since Independence, the residents of this border town had been waiting for the construction of RUB at this place. Sharma said that earlier he had taken up the matter with the Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, who approved Rs. 7 Crore which were provided to the railways authorities.
