Wital See to Organise `Purewal Khed Mela’ to Promote Rural Sports

Nawan Shahar, February 4, 2014:  In order to promote and incentivise sporting excellence across rural India, Wital See Marketing Ltd, one of India’s fastest growing business entities, is organising 23rd edition of `Purewal Khed Mela’ (Purewal Sports Fair). The event is being organised on February 8 and 9 at Village Hakimpur, District Nawan Shahar.
Khed Mela is one of its kind rural sports festival which is organized to promote popular rural sports such as Kabaddi, Wrestling, Athletics, Weightlifting, Body Building, etc. Drawing talent from various parts of the country, this event is being pitted as the largest rural sports festival in Asia. It is expected to draw an audience of over 1 Lakh people from across the country as well as spectators from Canada, United Kingdom, USA and Australia who gather every year to witness this rural sporting extravaganza.
Announcing the launch of Khed Mela, Jyoti Narain, Executive Director, Wital See Marketing Limited said, “Some of our most spectacular sporting stars have emerged from the country side. This Khed Mela is our way of reaching out to as well encouraging that hidden talent. We hope that one of the winners from this sporting carnival will go on to make the nation proud.”
Each sporting activity has separate categories for male and female athletes and carries reward money which runs into lakhs. “This event is also our way of monetarily incentivising budding talent so that they do not suffer because of financial constraints. Many of these athletes could have brought us medals at Olympics if they had the right facilities and training”, adds Narain.
Besides sporting activities, this Mela will also witness a number of cultural activities which showcase the ethos of the state of Punjab.
