Dharamshala, October 25, 2017: The Pavilion of the Dehradun based Wildlife institute of India WII, is attracting huge crowd , specially the students in the 3 days long Destination Himachal 2017, being organised in Hotel Paragon Palace, Solan (Himachal Pradesh). The institute besides teaching the steps to be taken in Environment and Science & technology, also encouraging the youth to build their career in WII. A group of young scientists are spreading awareness about WII , its projects and works, which is developing major interest among the youth. It is informed by Junior research fellows and project associate Ms. Aashna, Shagun, Neha and Priyanka and Dr. Aishwarya (from National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem project Task force, NMSHE and National Mission on Himalayan Studies NMHS led by WII), that WII is doing some major research activities from terrestrial, freshwater to marine flora and fauna under the ministry of environment forest and climate change. WII has recently initiated it's work in Great Himalayan national park situated in Himachal,under the climate change project.
WII carries out wildlife research in areas of study like Biodiversity, Endangered Species, Wildlife Policy, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Forensics, Spatial Modeling, Ecodevelopment, Habitat Ecology and Climate Change. WII has a research facility which includes Forensics, Remote Sensing and GIS, Laboratory, Herbarium, and an Electronic Library. The founder director was V. B. Saharia while the first Director was Hemendra Singh Panwar who remained the director from 1985 to 1994. Dr. V.B Mathur is the present director of this institute. Trained personnel from WII have contributed in studying and protecting wildlife in India. WII has also popularized wildlife studies and careers.
The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate change, Government of India, based in Chandrabani, Dehradun, India,which is close to the southern forests of Dehradun.
The Mega exhibition in Solan kicked off in presence of Mr Mohit Chawla IPS, SP Solan, here on 24 th October to go up to 26 th October 2017.
Other institutions and bodies of the government are also spreading awareness on their areas of expertise like Indian Council of Medical Research, ministry of earth sciences, council of scientific and industrial research, coir board, national biodiversity authority, food safety and standards authority of India to name a few.
