White Coat ceremony held in PU

Chandigarh: Dr.Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences, Panjab University, Chandigarh formally welcomed the incoming batch of B.D.S and M.D.S. students, in an illustrious White Coat ceremony, held here today. 
Governor, Punjab & Administrator, U.T Shri VP Singh Badnore graced the occasion. Prof.VK Paul, Member NITI Aayog and Prof.Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University were guests of honor . 
Shri VP Singh Badnore advised the students to stay focused and move ahead in life with determination. He emphasized that white coat is a symbolic, non-verbal communication used to express and reaffirm a fundamental belief in a system that society observes. The authority of dress is serious and purposeful, not social, casual or random. He appreciated the oral health care facilities available at the Dental Institute and urged them to work more towards awareness and public outreach. He also talked about initiating oral health care programs for school children of Sector schools of Chandigarh as a collaborative venture under the aegis of Chandigarh Administration. 
Prof VK Paul expressed his happiness to be part of the event and welcomed the students to the noble profession. He appreciated the parents for investing in their children and nurturing them to be able to be part of this profession. He advised the students to be honest and do justice to their profession. He emphasized the importance of excellence in day to day life rather than a one off aberration. 
Prof. Raj Kumar, PU Vice-Chancellor welcomed the students to the University and the profession and urged them to follow the path of righteousness. He stressed that learning neither stand nor ends in the classroom. It is a life-long learning process and the students should willingly follow it. 
Dr. Jagat Bhushan, the Principal-cum-Professor of the Institute, while welcoming the guests impressed upon the students the essence of donning the White Coat and the responsibilities that come with it. 
After receiving their White Coats from the Dignitaries, the students undertook the Dental Oath. One of the proud parents addressed the audience and shared his experience of his daughter’s journey to the dental course. 
The Ceremony was attended by the parents of the students, who with glistening eyes and proud smiles on their faces, watched their children don the white coat, with promises of duty and service.
