When Alka Yagnik met her dedicated fan on Superstar Singer

Sony Entertainment Television's kids singing reality show, Superstar Singer that aired on 29th June successfully showcased some real singing talent. It set the premise of what the viewers can expect every weekend. Judged by industry's notable singers - Javed Ali, Himesh Reshammiya and Alka Yagnik, the contestants will be under the Captainship of singers Jyotica Tangri, Salman Ali, Sachin Valmiki and Nitin Kumar. During the audition phase, veteran singer Alka Yagnik who sang numerous ever-green songs throughout her music career was impressed by a 13-year-old girl Ankona Mukherjee, accompanied with her parents based out of West Bengal. After Ankona’s fabulous performance on the song Agar Tum Saath, the judges along with the captains stood up from their seats during the performance to cheer for her.

Apart from her wonderful performance, it was revealed during the final audition that Ankona’s entire family are a huge fan of Alka Yagnik’s singing, and listen to her hit songs every day. On hearing this, Judge Alka Yagnik was visibly surprised and overwhelmed but was shocked when she noticed Ankona’s father carrying a suitcase. When asked the father revealed that the suitcase had all the cassettes of every hit song Alka has ever sang. With this beautiful gesture and dedication, Alka was instantly reminded of her olden days when cassette used to be very popular and people used to listen to music on tape recorders. She thanked the family for showering so much love and wished the best for the contestant.

Captain Sachin Valmiki who selected Ankona from mass audition held in the state confessed that the performance was mind blowing. Ankona’s voice made Alka Yagnik feel that there could not be a better version of this song.
