Week-long workshops under smart city mission to kick off from Oct 3

Ludhiana, September 30, 2016: A week-long discussions are going to take place from October 3 under smart city mission where stakeholders and representatives of various companies will exchange their ideas on Friday. The main aim is to increase public participation in the development of city.

On first day that is on October 3 there will be discussion on providing 24×7 water supply in the city. The second topic would be on finding suitable means to reduce pollution levels in Buddha Nallah. In this discussion session the companies like Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and BRICS Bank will participate in the event.

On October 4 and 7 there will be discussion sessions on development of Sarabha Nagar area and main market of Sarabha Nagar. The discussion will take place between the consultant company representatives AECOM/PWC and the shopkeeper associations and other relevant authorities. The ideas will be shared about development of the localities.

On October 4 evaluation of the entries which were received from the citizens for development of Sarabha Nagar area will start. In the next week that is on October 10 winners of the competition will be announced. A design review committee will be formed which will be an independent body of city residents to discuss and identify the design review body.

The CEO cum MCL Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that weeklong discuss session has been planned to increase public participation in the development of ludhiana as smart city. He said that companies which are participating will take ideas of stakeholders and they will also give their plans and take feedback as well.
