JAMMU, APRIL 1, 2017: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr.S.P.Vaid today felicitated Selection Grade Constable, Rajesh Kumar of J&K Security Wing for his courage and presence of mind while capturing the assailant Masroor Ahmad Naik involved in weapon snatching from a police official in Jammu on March 23, 2017.
The incident took place late evening at Tawi bridge near Mandir-Masjid Point, when the assailant along with his two associates, assaulted and injured a police constable Mohammad Hanief and snatched his service rifle.
In the meantime, the courageous cop of JKAP 4th security Battalion, Rajesh Kumar, who was returning from duty to Security Lines found his counterpart crying. He noticed a boy in suspicious circumstances and immediately overpowered him, who was later found involved in the incident.
Recognizing the courage of Rajesh Kumar, Dr Vaid rewarded him with cash and commendation certificate at Police Headquarters here today. He lauded the act of the constable, saying that his timely action and presence of mind led to the arrest of other two assailants, solving the case within short time.
“Such act of courage and fearlessness by the constable is exemplary, which would inspire other personnel in the force”, maintained Dr Vaid.
