Women hailing from LIG Colony, Jamalpur, Focal Point, Ludhiana on Friday stage protest against water crisis in their locality, they are seen carrying empty buckets as a mark of the protest.

Ludhiana, May 20, 2016: Women hailing from LIG Colony, Jamalpur, Focal Point, Ludhiana today held a demonstration infront of municipal corporation office at Sherpur against pathetic condition of water supply in the locality for the last 2-3 months. Protesters were holding empty buckets as a mark of protest and shouting slogans against Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL). They also handed over a charter of demands to the MCL officials.

Protesting women told that there was no water supply in their colony for the last three days. Earlier too, there was irregular water supply in the colony, they said, adding that there was no fix time for water supply over the period.

Protesters said they were facing numerous problems and were unable to do their domestic works in absence of water supply for the last 3 days. They regretted that they belonged to poor section of the society therefore the MCL officials were not paying heed to their problem.

The MCL officials assured the protesters to resolve their problem after receiving a memorandum in this regard.

Protesters said they would be constrained to intensify the agitation if no permanent solution was found to their problem.
