Jalandhar, December 29, 2018: Double Victory Brigade under the aegis of Vajra Corps organized a rally for the disabled soldiers and veer naris at Beas on 29 Dec 18 to honour and felicitate disabled veterans of armed forces. The rally was organised as part of “Year of the War Disabled Soldiers in the line of duty” with the focus on the welfare of the veterans and veer naris. As many as 350 veterans and veer naris turned up to reaffirm their bond with the armed forces.
The aim of the meet was to provide a forum to the war disabled veterans and veer naris of Baba Bakala & Khadoor Sahib tehsils to ameliorate their grievances with respect to post retirement needs and other entitled benefits.
Serving officers of the Indian army and civil administration attended the rally. A number of stalls were set up to extend the facilities to the ex-servicemen and their dependents. Veteran Sahayata Kendra (VSK) staff was also in attendance to resolve pension anomalies and assist in online registration of the disabled solders on the VSK Portal and register complaints with respect to pension, ECHS & CSD facilities.
A medical team, including specialists, fully equipped with modern equipment and medicines was also present to provide medical assistance to the visiting veterans, veer naris and their dependents.
The disabled soldiers were gifted six modified scooters, three wheel chairs, blankets and cash incentives. Addressing the veterans, Commander Double Victory Brigade recounted the various facilities being extended to veterans by the Indian army as well as the central government. He reassured the gathering that all out efforts are being made by the army and the government to resolve their grievances.
