Ludhiana, July 17, 2013: A good news for Ludhianvis and especially for health conscious ones. VLCC at Ludhiana today unveiled a revolutionary new concept in the wellness domain with the introduction of DNA FIT – Asia’s first body shaping programme tailored to the genetic make-up of individual customers.

During the launch of DNA FIT programme by Regional Head (Operation) Monica Bahl at Ludhiana said that DNA FIT goes a step beyond by factoring in the impact of one’s unique DNA in the weight loss process, for prescribing the most effective diet and exercise regime, keeping particular individual in mind, wonder why when two people eat the same food, one gains more weight than the other? The answer lies in DNA variations that affect the body’s dietary fat metabolism.

Monica Bahl addressing the gathering of around 20 women present in the centre from all field to grace the occasion had to say that: “Each of us has a unique DNA make-up which determines our propensity to gain or lose weight. It is this difference in the genetic structure which explains why two individuals enrolling for the same slimming package sometimes obtain different results from it even if their body composition, lifestyles, and dietary habits are more or less similar.

Obesity earlier was considered a life style disorder but now obesity has become a disease itself so finding a solution for this is the need of the hours. DNA FIT is a custom-fit solution and the answer for all those who have been seeking a scientific, individualised weight loss programme that offers speedy, yet sustainable results.”

Technical Head- Ashwinder present on the occasion remarked that “from our gender; the color of our hair, eyes and skin; the types of food that work best with our bodies; and even the type of exercise designed to maximise our individual performance, our DNA is the instruction manual for the creation and maintenance of our bodies”.  Stanford University research (“Genotype Patterns Predict Weight Loss Success: The Right Diet Does Matter.” 2010) reveals that individuals who opt for DNA-appropriate diets lose significantly more weight and cm/inch loss than those whose diets are not compatible with their particular genes.

Dr. Megha and Dr. Karishma-In house Doctor at VLCC did a simple cheek swab test for all clients who were interested in getting their DNA test for knowing their customised diet and exercise regime to get the best solution for weight loss through VLCC’s DNA Fit Programme.

Centre Head Prabha Maya Prasad said, “As a customer-centric organisation, all of VLCC’s services have always been designed keeping in mind the changing requirements of clients. Being the first company in Asia to be able to offer our customers a solution to DNA-defined obesity is in keeping with this philosophy.”

Also conveyed to the audience, VLCC R&D Head Dr Veena Aggarwal said it has been known for a while that weight management and other multi-factorial conditions like obesity are regulated by the interplay of both genetic and environment/lifestyle factors. “Genetic studies have now validated the importance of genes by demonstrating that diets customised to genes are likely to be 2-3 times more effective in weight management than those which are not,” Dr Aggarwal said.

Among others, Surbhi ACM, Chitra Dietician and Dr. Megha-Physiotherapist to guide the clients about the same were present on the occasion. They thanked all present to make the launch successful.
